The Enchanted pairs a curly maple handle with a body made from Gabon ebony, one of the world’s most prized and increasingly difficult-to-source hardwoods. This particular piece of ebony caught my attention because it isn’t uniformly black. Wispy streaks of lighter color travel through the dark body, giving the wood an almost smoky appearance along its length.
The curly maple handle brings a completely different kind of movement. Its lighter color and shifting figure stand in sharp contrast to the ebony below.
Between the two is a collar of silver leaf suspended in clear epoxy, bordered by aluminum spacers. The silver catches the light without competing with the natural figure in the woods.
The combination of curly maple, silver, and unusually figured Gabon ebony is what gave this cane its name. There’s a little bit of magic in this one.
